Description

At the top of each hour the man chops away at his log in front of the Black Forest cuckoo clock cottage.  The man is surrounded by hand-carved trees and wildlife including two fawn feeding and a cuckoo bird perched on a log.    The cuckoo clock house has a hand-carved roof.

On every hour the man chops the log with his axe as the cuckoo bird cuckoos the hour.  (Example: At one o'clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o'clock the bird will cuckoo eight times).

There is also a manual night shut off switch that allows you to mute the cuckoo sound and stop the wood chopper.  Two cast iron pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by two separate brass chains.    The hand-made pendulum continously swings back and forth controlling the timing of the clock.

The eight day brass mechanical Regula movement is wound once per eight days by pulling the chains which raises the two pine cone weights. One weight powers the time and the other weight powers the cuckoo, cuckoo call, and the wood chopper.

*Great effort has been made to portray each cuckoo clock as accurately as possible. As with many handmade items, the exact coloration and carving may vary slightly from clock to clock. We consider this to be a special part of their character.

This clock is covered by a two year limited warranty covering workmanship and manufacturers defects.
